KELPIE CAPTURED
This is Una an Irish Water Horse or Kelpie. A demon that haunts fresh water lakes, rivers, and streams. A kelpie will appear as a horse with always wet dripping mane or with seaweed in its mane. It is shown as both a horese with white or black body It offers a ride to weary travellers and one they touch the Kelpie they are stuck to the creature. The kelpie then drags its victims into the water. Then the Kelpie feast on the victims, in some versions of the tale it eats all of the victim except for the liver.
In when infamous tale the Kelpie captured nine children and chased a tenth one, the tenth child escaped from the demon. In one version the tenth child touched the Kelpie's snout and became stuck, he escaped by cutting off his hand and cauterizing in a fire the children had built.
My Una has been captured, someone was very careful tying her up.
This is Una Blackwater, a kelpie, was one I thought do more with. She just fell through the cracks after initial outing: KELPIE KAPTURED I liked the design and decided to expand her history. Now she lives in New Portaferry like all my other OC's but she is different type of Water Horse.
She is living as a swim coach, beach comber, and life guard as her mane and tail are always wet. Though people think she is just a weird horse with fin like projections on her legs. She has control of her power to make people adhere to her. She has rejected her people's basically looking at land creatures as nothing but as food.
Her sea dwelling brethren are dwindling, it seems that the land dwellers are getting better to protect themselves and dwindling sea resources are reducing their number. Una is considered an outcast, it would be like a human running off to join a herd of cattle. She has seen any friends or family in a long time. Kelpies live a very long time, Kelpies don't have a calendar so gauging her age is nearly impossible or extremely difficult. She moves around to avoid being in an area long enough for people realize she is not aging.
She tends to keep to herself and avoid connections to surface dwellers. She is starting to break down her personal isolation and make her some friends. She is starting to make friendship with LINK. She is starting to put some roots in New Portaferry.
She has superhuman strenght, she loses her strenght as she does not immerse herself in water. She always carries a water bottle to douse herself, if she evr needs her superhuman strength. She can live indefinitely under water. She can control her power people to adhere to her. She also resists her desire to eat surface people, though some tempt her to dine on them.
